From December 3rd, 2002, with the enforcement of the Decree dated November 22nd, 2002 issued by the Ministry of Interior, published on the Gazzetta Ufficiale no. 283 of December 3rd, 2002, all GPL vehicles equipped with a GPL system respecting the safety requirements set forth in the ECE/ONU 67-01 regulations can park on the first floor of parking garages, even if these should have several basement floors.
GPL vehicles equipped with a GPL system respecting the safety requirements set forth in the ECE/ONU 67-01 regulations are practically all vehicles on which a GPL system has been installed after January 1st, 2001, the date on which compliance with the ECE/ONU 67-01 regulations became mandatory. To check if your car is equipped with an appropriate system, you can simply check the registration certificate, where it should state “EQUIPPED WITH SAFETY SYSTEM ACCORDING TO ECE/ONU 67-01.
